Flexible funding options—just another way that we're with you no matter what

We offer multiple funding options to help you design a benefits plan that’s right for your business. Whether you’d prefer to minimize risk, maximize savings or anything in between, a Florida Blue Sales Consultant can help you find the perfect funding fit.

Fully-insured

You pay a premium, we cover the rest. With a fully-funded option, Florida Blue assumes responsibility for all covered health care expenses. This limits the financial risk for your business and simplifies budgeting for benefits.

Level-funded

If you’re looking for predictable costs with opportunities to save, Florida Blue’s Balanced Funding solution may be right for your business. Fixed monthly payments help you budget and reduce risk, with the potential for annual refunds if claims are lower than expected.

Self-funded

With a self-funded plan, you only pay administrative costs to Florida Blue. Then, you manage the rest, from benefits design to claims cost. This option gives you more flexibility and can help you save. To learn more about funding options, contact our Sales team to arrange a consultation.

Frequently asked questions

Everyone deserves quality health care that’s affordable. Small business health insurance and HMO plans allow you to offer your employees health care coverage so they can stay healthy and productive.

No matter what Florida Blue small business health plan you choose, your plan will include doctor visits, preventative care services such as checkups and routine tests or screenings, prescription drug coverage, and even benefits like virtual care, wellness programs, digital tools, health coaching and education, along with additional products like vision, dental and life insurance.

Smaller-sized businesses have specific needs and unique considerations. Whether you have five employees or 50, you’ll need a group plan that’s affordable for both your business and your employees without sacrificing access to high-quality care.

Because your business is smaller, you need a solution that’s easy to manage even without a dedicated team to administer your plan, and that offers ongoing support and access for employers and employees alike. You need to evaluate whether a fully insured or balanced funded plan is right for your circumstances and your budget. And ideally, your solution should provide additional products that employees really need, like vision, dental and life insurance.

With over 75 years of working with local Florida small businesses, Florida Blue can offer you and your employees the right combination of cost, quality, access and service for your specific needs. Our local agents will give you the time and attention you need to determine which of our small group health plans would make the most sense for you.

Small business health insurance and HMO plan costs depend on your location, the number of employees you have, and how much you can contribute to your employees’ coverage. Costs can also vary widely by the types of plans you choose, and factors like whether you whether you opt for more open access or narrower network solutions or fully insured or balanced funded.

Florida Blue’s competitive portfolio of health plans for small businesses includes some of the lowest priced silver plan in most Florida counties. Talk to us to figure out what kinds of plans work best for you based on your needs and your budget.

While it’s true that businesses with fewer than 50 full-time-equivalent employees aren't legally required to provide health insurance to their employees, a lot of small businesses do offer health insurance because it’s simply better for their workforce, which is better for their business.

Not only do good health benefits allow you to hire and retain the best people, it’s much more cost-effective to provide health insurance for your employees since access to quality health care means fewer sick days and greater productivity.

Health benefit plans have limitations and exclusions.  The amount of benefits provided depends on the plan selected and the premium may vary with the amounts of benefits selected.
